This is a woman’s accessory from the Miao Nationality in Fenghuang, western Hunan. Red satin with ribbons form the base, and three layers of silver ornaments are attached. 8 silver pieces in the shape of a lotus decorate the inner part, 8 oval and ladder-shaped silver pieces with a dragon, a phoenix, lions, and peony designs symmetrically decorate the middle part. The edge is a diamond silver net which is linked together by many small silver rings. The silver strips which are suspended from the silver net have two layers. It takes one kilogram of silver to make such a tippet.
