Date:Western Han (206 BCE-9 CE)
Medium:Silk

Dimensions:Diameter: 32cm; depth: 36cm

Origin:Two mirror bags were unearthed from Tomb No.1 at Mawangdui in 1972.

These two mirror covers were stored in the lacquer box with five small boxes and the lacquer box with nine small boxes respectively.

They are of identical tube shape. One of them is fairly intact and has “Longevity Embroidery” on thin silk as its bottom. The tube is hemmed with dark reddish purple thin silk and padded with thin silk wadding. The other cover is badly damaged and its size can no longer be measured. But we still can see that the bottom is connecte by two pieces of tease brocade and embroidery and that the tube is hemmed with thin silk.
