The bronze seal with a tortoise-shaped knob, is a funerary object.

At the bottom of the seal, four Chinese characters “Dai Hou zhi yin” were inscribed. “yin” means the seal, “Dai” is the family name and “hou” refers to the official rank of Marquis, which infers the rank of the owner of the seal Li Cang, the occupant of Mawangdui Tomb No.2.

    Through textual research, this paper believes that the map unearthed from Han Tomb 3 at Mawangdui, which was named Drawing of Gardens and Temples by the collation group and renamed Drawing of the Burial Ground by the compilers of The Complete Manuscripts on Silk and Bamboo Slips from the Han Tombs at Mawangdui , should actually be named as Drawing of the Auspicious Domain . It further proves that the occupant of Mawangdui Tomb 3 is undoubtedly Lixi – the second Marquis of Dai and thus provides new evidence for the fi nal settlement of this issue that has been under debate for more than 40 yea
