Dou is a kind of food container and an important ceremonial vessel according to historical records. It is round, composed of the body and the cover, with the body having a much deeper belly to hold more food. It has a bell-shaped round foot. The cover is similar to the body, with a relatively shorter handle, which is graceful in shape. The whole utensil is decorated with scrolled geometric designs and cloud designs. Judging by its decorative designs, this utensil seems to have had inlaid objects which are now lost. What kind of objects were inlayed is not clear. There are various inlaid objects in the Warring States period, like gold, silver, bronze, turquoise and so on. With a beautifull and exquisite design, thin and fine inlaid line, no matter what kind of objects are inlayed, this artifact is rarely seen and has a quite high level of inlaid technology for that time.
